AI adoption in mid-sized companies: A step-by-step guide
AI adoption doesn't have to be complicated. Many companies fail not because of the technology, but because of the question: where do we start? This article shows a structured approach that works in practice.
Step 1: Find the right entry point. Not every process is suitable for AI. Well-suited tasks are repetitive, follow clear rules, and take up a lot of working time. Poor candidates are processes requiring sensitivity, relationship management, or creative judgement.
Step 2: Start small, learn quickly. The first AI application should be manageable. One workflow, one team, one clear goal. What works on a small scale can be scaled up. What fails costs little.
Step 3: Involve employees early. AI changes working methods. Those who involve, explain, and bring along their team early avoid resistance. Those who impose AI from above lose it.
Step 4: Define measurable goals. What should improve? Time savings? Error rate? Throughput time? Without clear metrics, you won't know after three months whether the AI introduction was successful.
Step 5: Think about data protection from the start. GDPR, EU AI Act, data processing agreements: these topics must be clarified before the first production use, not afterwards.
Refactor Loop Systems guides companies through exactly this process: structured, practical, without detours.
